This content isn't available

I have a Power BI report that gets its data from an Excel file.  This report is developed in PowerBi desktop app and published to the Dashboard and from then I share it to a public website.  It's been working perfectly for the past 2 years and I update the excel sheet on a monthly basis, republish the report again to the website.

But the last time I published it to the web, it shows "This content isn't available" on the website.

It seems as if the report is now looking for credentials for the excel file.  When I go to the datasource settings, Privacy Level is set tot None.  (always has been)

When I want to refresh the datasource PowerBI in the browser (after publishing from the desktop), it gives the following message:

  • Data source errorScheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.
  • Cluster URIWABI-SOUTH-AFRICA-NORTH-A-PRIMARY-redirect.analysis.windows.net
  • Activity ID83827b71-9e7f-4226-90dd-2807d3dc24fc
  • Request ID876da902-f3db-3398-2c94-f1ffd7451d15
  • Time2023-07-20 09:21:22Z

Nothing changed on my side during the previous publish to web and the current publish to web, but it gives an error now.  Where/how can I fix this?

Hi, if your excel file resides on a local path you need to download and configure a Gateway a gateway so Power BI can refresh smoothly.

Hope will help

Thank you pceglie - I am just wondering, did something change on Power Bi the last 2 months, because it used to work perfectly without a gateway
