Power BI premium capacity and Fabric

Hi,

I'd like to know what a (old) Power BI Premium capacity allows to do towards Fabric.

In particular, by a such capacity is it possible to implement a Fabric workload (e.g. a lakehouse, a warehouse, etc.)?

Thanks

Hi @pmscorca

Power BI Premium (old) is mainly designed for Power BI reports, datasets, and paginated reports. You can view Fabric workloads if they are shared with you, but you can’t create or manage them. It also allows access to OneLake as a storage option for Power BI datasets.

However, Power BI Premium does not support Fabric workloads like Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, ..etc.

If you want to work with Microsoft Fabric, you'll need a Fabric capacity (F SKU) instead of a Power BI Premium capacity. You can also migrate from Power BI Premium (P SKU) to a Fabric SKU if needed.

Hi,

when will the transition period from Power BI to Fabric end?

No, you cannot run Fabric workloads in a PBI Premium Capacity workspace.  You can get a 60 day trial to run Fabric workloads, although not all Fabric items will be available in the trial.
