We wanted to highlight the significance of the event, its global impact, and how data can tell a richer story of the competition beyond just medals and records we wanted to highlight the sanofi sides of the Olympics (sponsored athletes, volunteers and Ignitors) also the carbon footprint and the sustainability side of it.
We wanted to push the limit on how we can use Power BI to our leverage to highlight this story. We focused on providing an in-depth perspective on the 2024 Olympics through a data-driven narrative, using Power BI's native visuals to showcase complex data with both clarity and creativity, all without relying on external powerbi visual enhancements. We wanted to push the boundaries of basic Power BI capabilities.
Concept of the Road to the Olympics 2024
We developed the isometric storytelling concept by drawing inspiration from game development techniques, where open-world and linear games approach storytelling in different ways. We wanted to combine the best of both, incorporating elements from open-world storytelling while maintaining a linear narrative structure. This is where our experimentation with isometric design began. From there, we started working on a timeline or roadmap using isometric artwork to illustrate key milestones, from the lead-up to the 2024 Olympics all the way through to the closing ceremony.
Our goal was clear to create an engaging, immersive self-explanatory user experience that would make the data-driven story both visually compelling and easy to follow.

This was our dashboard submission for the 2024 Sanofi VIZ Olympics Competition, jointly hosted by Sanofi and Microsoft, we secured 2nd place in the competition!
